Women's World Cup

Who thought that the Women's World Cup would be more exciting then the Mens? The quarterfinals brought drama and excitment to the sport. Sweden won in dominate fashion over Australia, but that was the only predictable game. France ended up beating the English in a penalty kick shootout after England gave up a 1-0 lead in the 88th minute. The biggest upset of the tournament came with Japan beating the favorites and home country Germany, in overtime 1-0. These games brought a spark to the sport that the men lacked.

After these three exciting games, you couldn't believe Brazil(ranked 3rd in the world) and United States(ranked 1st in the world) were playing in a quarterfinal matchup. The stadium was electrifying, and you could see that this was going to be a thriller by the faces of the players coming out of the tunnel. USA came out strong and scored four minutes into the game, and this scoreline lasted most of the game. In the 65th minute, Brazil received a questionable penalty kick call, and the USA player received a red card. Ameircan goalkeeper Hope Solo saved the first penalty kick, but the referee made a questionable decision and called back the penalty saying Hope moved to soon. Brazil scored on the second chance, and the USA had to play with ten players the rest of the game. In overtime, Brazil's talented Marta scored her second goal two minutes in. It seemed as if the United Sates was going to lose on a terrible call. USA sub Megan Rapinoe served in a high arching ball that went over a defender and goalkeeper to meet Abby Wambachs head in the 122nd minute. The stadium errupted as if everybody turned into USA fans after they had to fight Brazil and the referees. USA went on to defeat Brazil in a penalty kick shootout which was well deserved.

Even with all this drama, it still is only the quarterfinals and each team has two more games before they can hold that trophy up. France vs USA and Sweden vs. Japan can be watched on ESPN Wednesday. For more information on USA women's soccer.

Wimbledon

Tennis has been different ever since Federer is not dominating the sport anymore, Nadal is always injured or not winning the tournament, Djokovic went on a long win streak through small tournaments, and Andy Murray is good but not great. The semi-finals starts Friday with Tsonga vs Djokovic and Nadal vs Murray. Unless Tsonga can win, it seems like another top ranked player will win Wimbledon. This Wimbledon has been boring on the Mens side besides Federer giving up a two set lead in the quarters against Tsonga, and Nadal is playing through injury.

The women played the semi- finals today and Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova will play for the womens title. Maria Sharapova has been waiting for this chance for awhile and she seems to finally enter into the spotlight by dominating in every performance so far. Kvitova has been strong throughout this year winning several tournaments, and she comes into the finals with some big wins. This match-up might be more exciting than watching the mens championship with the same people playing each other.

NBA Draft

The NBA draft starts tonight, Thursday June 23, with a lot of criticism. There is some talent coming out of this draft, but everybody is talking about the lack of stars. The Cavs with the number one pick, are looking to trade back to stock up more draft picks for the future. As fans, we are use to having Lebron James, Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin coming out of college. The two biggest names are Kyrie Irving and Derrick Williams, whom are great players, but many analyst are questioning if they can become superstars. The mock drafts are showing these two guys followed by many foreign players in the lottery picks. The NBA draft usually brings an excitment to it, but with the lack of talent will it be a bust, or boom?

College Athletes Dealing with the Real World

The life of a college athlete is equivalent to a full-time job. You have the early morning workouts to the three hour practices. It is exhausting having this life on top of taking classes. People believe athletes get this special treatment, which is not true.

Heat - Bulls square off in NBA Finals

Game 1 of the NBA Finals kicks off tonight at 9 Eastern. A rematch of the 2006 NBA Finals, the Miami Heat look to take another finals series against the surging Dallas Mavericks. Both teams have fought hard to get to here. Dallas’ road went through Lakerland and a young, energetic Oklahoma City Thunder to get to the finals. Miami had to defeat the “Big Three” of the Celtics, before taking on MVP Derrick Rose and the No. 1 seed Chicago Bulls. Mavericks forward and resident star Dirk Nowitzki is enjoying one of the best single player performances in NBA playoff history. While in Miami, LeBron James and 2006 Finals MVP Dwyane Wade are continuing to connect and have yet to lose a playoff game at home. The series starts in Miami and is a best-of-seven series, with a 2-3-2 playoff format. Only four players from the 2006 finals remain on the teams’ rosters, two from each team. Nowitzki is looking for his first ring, as is LeBron and Chris Bosh. This looks to be a great finals series. Get your tickets at DCNTickets –Your Seat is Waiting!

Bulls look to Even the Series in South Beach

Tonight is Game 4 for the Eastern Conference Finals. The Miami Heat will look to take a 3-1 series lead against Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls. The Heat won game G 95-86 behind the large effort of big man Chris Bosh. Bosh put up 34 points, as LeBron James and Dwyane Wade added 22 and 17 respectively. Carlos Boozer of the Bulls finally showed up and showed why he was paid so much in the off-season. Boozer finished with 26 points and 17 rebounds. The Bulls are going to need swingman Luol Deng to step up and help alleviate the pressure on Boozer and MVP Derrick Rose if the Bulls are to even the series tonight in Miami at American Airlines Arena. The Bulls have rebounded the ball well against the Heat. Now they need to defend better. Look for LeBron James to try and take over in the early part of the game and secure the 3-1 series lead. Bulls Head to South Beach Looking to Bounce Back

On Wednesday night the Miami Heat pulled even with the Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference Finals. The series is now tied one game apiece as it heads down to South Beach where Miami looks to defend its home floor. LeBron James led the way for the Heat, scoring 29 points, while Dwyane Wade added 24. After Game 2 LeBron said,

The series has just started. … It's 1-1. We're excited that we were able to come here and get a win. But it's just started.”
Game 3 takes place Sunday at American Airlines Arena in Miami. Young, electrifying second-year player Taj Gibson played most of the fourth quarter over a struggling Carlos Boozer. Boozer has been the aim of many frustrated Bulls’ fans, as he hasn’t produced nearly the way he was paid or expected to. The Heat’s big men really stepped up and proved they could bang with the likes of Boozer, Gibson and Bulls’ starting center Joakim Noah. Game 3 looks to be exciting, and it will be interesting to see who will step up. To get your tickets, check out www.DCNTickets.com – Your Seat is Waiting!

Heat Look to Pull Even with Rose; Bulls.

Game 2 between the Miami Heat and the Chicago Bulls is tonight, and Derrick Rose and company are going to have to fend off the hungry attacks of Miami’s “Big Three.” After a dismal Game 1 from LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, the Heat suffered in the second half against the stingy Bulls defense and relentless pressure on the glass from Bulls big men Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer. Chris Bosh and Joel Anthony will need to keep the Bulls big men off the glass if Miami is to take Game 2. Bosh said it best when discussing the Bulls’ clampdown on James and Wade:

Dwyane and LeBron are going to create a lot of attention," Bosh said. "This is a good defensive team. ... They're going to make them distributors. We have to look at where we fell short as a team for Game 1 and come back with a better approach.”
Game 2 is tonight at 8:30 at the United Center in Chicago. Get your tickets at DCNTickets.com -Your seat is waiting!

NBA Conference Finals in action!

The NBA conference finals are set! In the Eastern Conference, the Miami Heat face off against the No. 1 seed Chicago Bulls. On Sunday evening, Chicago stole Game 1 from the Heat in a blowout performance led by MVP Derrick Rose. Miami’s Chris Bosh stepped up and had a huge 30-point performance. Unfortunately, the other two of Miami’s “Big Three" only accumulated a total of 33 points. In the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder look to advance against the Dallas Mavericks. The series kicks off on Tuesday evening in Dallas. The Thunder are coming off a 15-point tromping of the Memphis Grizzlies, led by franchise star Kevin Durant. Durant scored a team high 39 points and pulled down 9 rebounds. The Mavericks haven’t played in more than a week after their improbable sweep of the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. Both of these series look to be competitive and entertaining throughout. For the best available seats, check out DCN Tickets –Your Seat is Waiting!

Westbrook Goes Big on Memphis, can Grizz Answer back?

Game 4 belonged to the Oklahoma City Thunder as they came back from an 18-point deficit to beat the Memphis Grizzlies in a triple overtime comeback. Russell Westbrook led the way with 40 points, as Kevin Durant added 35, and James Harden added another 19 to help secure the win. Zach Randolph led the way for Memphis as he dropped 34 points, but failed to connect on his usual percentage of shots. Marc Gasol and O.J. Mayo both contributed offensively scoring 26 and 18 points respectively. Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, they shot a poor 36 percent from the field, while the Thunder shot nearly 10 percent better. Game 5 is a must-win game for each team as both have shown to be almost evenly matched in every facet of the game. Kevin Durant feels confident in the Thunder and is proud of his teammates for staying with it and pulling the comeback. After the game Durant said, “We’ve got to keep fighting, though, it's tied up right now. We're taking it back to our house. So we'll see how we handle it." The Thunder didn’t take their first lead in the ballgame until the 5:16 mark in the third quarter after a Westbrook lay-up. Game 5 takes place in Oklahoma City on Wednesday. Bulls Look to Bounce Back in Chi-Town

It’s been a back-and-forth series as the Atlanta Hawks and the Chicago Bulls have split games on each other’s home floors. Down two games to one, the Atlanta Hawks shot nearly 50 percent against one of the league’s top defenses on the way to a 100-88 Hawks win. Josh Smith led the way with 23 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists. Al Horford had his best game of the season for the Hawks, going 9 for 11 from the field and finishing with 20 points while team super-star Joe Johnson added 24. Derrick Rose finished with 34 points, however he did take a game high 32 shots. Rose said after the game, “It was a tough game but no excuses.” Carlos Boozer, who has struggled this series, played his best game so far and scored 18 for the Bulls. The series shifts to Chicago tonight, where the Bulls look to bounce back and secure their home court and the series lead. Miami Looks to Close Boston out in South Beach

Behind Lebron James’ 35 points, the Miami Heat have pushed the Boston Celtics to the brink of elimination. Miami’s “Big Three,” which consists of Lebron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade, scored 83 of Miami’s 98 points and pulled down 35 of Miami’s 45 total rebounds. Boston led most of the game and went into the fourth quarter of Monday night’s game with the lead. However, bad shot selection and turnovers gave way for the Heat to push the game into overtime where Miami’s stars shined brightest. Boston had four of their 18 turnovers in the short overtime quarter and also continued the poor shooting that had plagued them all of the fourth quarter. The Heat now lead the series 3-1, as both teams head to South Beach for a must-win game for the Celtics. Game 5 takes place tomorrow night. Hawks-Bulls Square off in Atlanta for game 3

Game 3 in the NBA Eastern Conference semifinals between the Atlanta Hawks and No. 1 seed Chicago Bulls tips off tonight at 7:30 in Philips Arena. The series is tied one a piece, as the Hawks stole a game on the road from the Bulls. However, behind a resurged Derrick Rose, the Bulls fought back to claim Game 2. On a night where Bulls point guard Derrick Rose was awarded the NBA’s Most Valuable Player Award, Rose showed why he was such a heavy favorite to win. Even though the Bulls shot a dismal percentage from the field, they out-rebounded the Hawks, as well as played much better overall defense. Game 3 is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. It will be interesting to see how the Hawks defend the “Highlight Factory.” For the best deal on Hawk's tickets, check out DCN Tickets -- Your Seat is Waiting.

Detroit Pistons vs. Atlanta Hawks

On Monday, February 14 2011 at 7:30 pm there will be a game between basketball teams Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks. The game will take place at the Palace Of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, MI.

Detroit Pistons have won 3 NBA championships. First one was in 1989. Then they defended it in 1990. Their third and last win so far was in 2004.

It should be noted that this season is the worst for the Pistons guard-forward Richard Hamilton. He plays for the Detroit Pistons since 2002 and the best year for his carrier was 2005. On 14th of February he will turn 33, the same day the game with Atlanta Hawks will take place. He will probably try his best.

Pistons opponent, Atlanta Hawks, is the smallest teams in the league in the frontcourt.

Hawks forward-center Al Horford, who was injured on Friday, will likely to recover to the game date. He is a good player and will be very dangerous for the Detroit Pistons.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Houston Rockets Game Preview

As one of the winningest teams in the NBA for the past several season, the Dallas Mavericks are again a top threat in the league. The Mavs had a very effective defense last year, which, coupled with one of the best power forwards in the game in Dirk Nowitzki. Jason Kidd, Nowitzki and Caron Butler are all hungry players that realize the window for winning an NBA championship is open. Head Coach Rick Carlisle knows what it take to win in this league, and with some great talent he will have the Mavs running on all cylinders.

But we also know that their opponents this time will be Houston Rockets and they boast some of the smartest players in the NBA and are going to be a defensive juggernaut the likes of which we haven't seen in the NBA ages. Even with the absence of Yao Ming and Tracy MacGrady, plus Ron Artest in this game, The Rockets will be a tough team to beat. They should be able to dominate the competition multiple ways, with many scoring and defensive options available. So don't miss the game on Thursday - 7:30 PM, January 27, at American Airlines Center (Basketball) Dallas, TX.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Memphis Grizzlies

Last year the Philadelphia 76ers finished with a 27-55 record, besides being a team in transition. Being luckily enough the team won the second spot in the draft, and selected former Ohio State Buckeye Evan Turner. Turner is going to be joined in the starting lineup by 2nd year point guard Holiday, USA Basketball player Andre Iguodala, up-and-coming center Spence Hawes, and a mighty Elton Brand.

Buy cheap tickets now and enjoy the talents of Louis Williams, Thaddeus Young, and Andres Nocioni on January 28th in the Wells Fargo Center, which is a great place to watch a basketball game in Philadelphia.

And at the point that the Philadelphia 76ers are considered a contender in the Eastern Conference, together with Memphis Grizzlies they will certainly play an entertaining game team to watch. Memphis Grizzlies is another professional basketball team (which is the part of the Southwest Division of the Western Conference in the NBA). Together with the Toronto Raptors, the Grizzlies were established in 1995 as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada.

Chicago Bulls vs. Orlando Magic Tickets

Last year it happened that the Chicago Bulls finished 41-41, and squeaked into the playoffs as the eighth-seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Through free agency they managed to perennial All-Star Carlos Boozer, along with additional players Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer. And it appears to be quite clear that the Bulls are balanced and prepared for action in order to challenge the best teams in the league. Derrick Rose is considered to be the one who has fans most excited. The point guard averaged twenty points and 6 assists in the previous year, the second-year in the NBA, and is definitely going to increase both totals this year. If you really would like to see Tom Thibodeau's division playing at the United Center on January 28th, don't hesitate and buy the cheapest basketball tickets right now.
The second team participating in this game is Orlando Magic, which is a professional basketball team as well. They play in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and are currently coached by Stan Van Gundy. By the way, the Magic are scheduled to host the NBA All-Star Game in 2012. In the summer of 2010 the Orlando Magic signed Chris Duhon, formerly of the New York Knicks, and Quentin Richardson, formerly of the Miami Heat.

New Orleans Hornets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

During the last season, the Oklahoma City Thunder took advantage of Chris Paul's absence to beat the New Orleans Hornets, which happened for the first time since relocating from Seattle.
On January 24th the Thunder will contend with Chris Paul at the time when they host the Hornets for the first time in 2011. Due to the fact that Paul still recovering from surgery, the Thunder claimed a 98-83 home victory while David West scored 33 points considering that no other Hornets player had more than 11 points.
At this point, being healthy, Paul is going to do his best to help his club win in a matchup between these 2 teams that have cooled off lately.
"We've got to execute better on offense and push the tempo. That's my fault," Paul stated. "I pushed it in the first half and I guess I didn't in the second half and they were able to get their defense set. I've got to pick up the pace."
The Thunder reunited from an 8 point halftime, but Kevin Durant missed a short jumper just before the buzzer. "We battled back and no one on our team gave up and we had a shot to win,'' stated Scott Brooks, the coach "Kevin's shot was on line but just a little short. We had a chance to win down the stretch."

Lady GaGa to Perform at 2011 Grammy Awards

In accordance with the words of Lady GaGa's choreographer and creative director (who choreographed most of the dance singer's music videos) Laurieann Gibson Lady GaGa will perform at this year's Grammy Awards. And on Tuesday, January 11 on star's Twitter page we got a confirmation to his words. In addition, Laurieann Gibson has also stated through Twitter that Lady GaGa is going to provide choreography for all of the music videos off the "Bad Romance" and "Born This Way".

On Sunday, February 13 you will have a chance to watch live broadcast of the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards which will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the same date when GaGa is set to release brand new single "Born This Way".

Due to another source of news Lady GaGa's "Born This Way" single is going to be featured on "Glee". Series co-creator Ryan Murphy stated, "This show is by nature optimistic and I think a character like Karofsky could turn to booze or pills or alcohol and kill themselves or do something dark. But I also love Max and I love that character and I sorta want that character to have a happy ending. So I don't really know what that's going to be, but I do know we're going to do a whole episode that's about that song."

Prince at Madison Square Garden Concert Review

Prince has made one of the most difficult choices at Madison Square Garden, the first NYC date of his Welcome 2 America tour (get cheapest tickets) he did give people what they wanted! At the time when lots of the prolific star's past shows have changed into unknown territory full of obscurities and great funk instrumental jams, I have to admit that this one was a crowd-pleasing hits collection.

While the headliner jokingly complained at one point that there're "Too many hits," Prince performed them with a coolness and savageness that resulted in an exciting show and the crowd was really thrilled.

While performing the star was in wonderful spirits, outstanding guitar god poses for his solos and breaking into the dance workouts. Begging from "Baby I'm a Star" and up to "Kiss," the 52-years-old star "re-explored his vintage catalogue as if playing the songs for the first time." Prince, with the charisma so characteristic of him, showed stamina of his youth.

2011 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl Game: Nevada Wolf Pack vs. Boston College Eagles

The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl is an annual college football bowl game that takes place at AT&T Park in San Francisco, CA, which is home of the San Francisco Giants. Its previous name was the Emerald Bowl, which was taken from the Diamond Foods, the main sponsor at that time. In 2010 Kraft foods took over sponsorship and branded it as part of their hunger relief program.

The 2011 Kraft Bowl gives you ability to become an eyewitness of one of the greatest game in which Nevada Wolf Pack from the WAC Conference will play against traditional power Boston College Eagles from the ACC, which will take place on January 9th at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California. 2011 BBVA Compass Bowl: Pittsburgh Panthers vs. Kentucky Wildcats

The Big East and SEC will be showcased in the BBVA Compass Bowl when the Pittsburgh Panthers will play against the Kentucky Wildcats in Birmingham. Get your cheapest tickets now!

The Kentucky Wildcats' season was very interesting because of several reasons: from the one hand, it included beating SEC-West Champ South Carolina and from the other - a 2-6 SEC record, but their decision kept solid due to their top score passing offense headed by the duo of quarterback Mike Hartline and all-around player Randall Cobb. Mike Hartline threw for over 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns, and Randall Cobb being a supposed wide receiver, ran and caught twelve touchdowns and ranked second in the country with 2,192 all-purpose yards.

An opposed to Kentucky Wildcats the Pittsburgh Panthers’ season was a bit disappointing: running back Dion Lewis rushed for 956 yards and 12 scores while wide receiver Joe Baldwin's 15.6 average yards a catch have him included loudly in the list of players led to the NFL draft the current year (together with Kentucky's Cobb). The team’s defense survived many injuries to prevailing Big East defensive POY Greg Romeus, but don’t forget about Mike Hartline and Randall Cobb who are going to attack their 22nd-ranked unit, that will make it interesting to see which unit will bring their team a BBVA Compass Bowl win.

BCS National Championship Game 2011: Auburn Tigers vs. Oregon Ducks

BCS National Championship Game 2011 is set in stone and now it’s clear that it will definitely pit the Auburn Tigers vs. the Oregon Ducks. Auburn Tigers had won the SEC title game couple of weeks ago handily dispatching South Carolina, at the time when Oregon Ducks completed their regular season undefeated and on the top of the Pac Ten after competing with Oregon State in their rivalry game which already became traditional.

Auburn has been confused in the Cam Newton friction but despite that their team has delivered, running through the SEC. In the match up with Alabama in the Iron Bowl they came out as a winner, handling practically all their major tests in-conference.

It’s not a secret that Oregon is an incredibly fast offensive team that “lives to score and lives to move the ball down the field." They handled the Pac 10 in an extremely attractive way, having lost only once to Stanford in their biggest game till today.

Don’t miss the game! Get your cheapest tickets on www.dcntickets.com right now!

Cotton Bowl 2011: Texas A&M Aggies vs. LSU Tigers

Cotton Bowl 2011 couple of weeks ago has already confirmed participant, as the Texas A&M Aggies accepted their invitation to the long-standing bowl game. The SEC team LSU Tigers are going to be their opponents in this bowl game, as they are expected to miss out on an at-large invitation to a BCS bowl.

The Cotton Bowl is scheduled to take place on January 7, 2011, in Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, the house of Jerry Jones. (The cheapest tickets you can find here). This is going to be the first time the game will be played away from the actual Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas.

LSU's is predicted to have more chances in this game, due to the fact that they had an inside shot at a BCS bowl for much of the year and became a winners of several heart-stopping games by a narrow margin, showing courage that might really help them in the game that should be one of the more entertaining bowls of the season.

Sugar Bowl 2011: Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Ohio State Buckeyes

Sugar Bowl 2011 will probably have an amazing quarterback match up between the Arkansas Razorbacks' big-armed Ryan Mallett and the Ohio State Buckeyes' incredibly athletic Terrelle Pryor.

This bowl is already officially confirmed and Arkansas Razorbacks will secure the SEC's BCS bowl bid due to Auburn's place in the national title game, and the team from Ohio State looks like to be confirmed to fall just short of a spot in the Rose Bowl as the Big 10 champion.

The team of Ohio State had a good year in the Big 10, considering their only loss to Wisconsin during the regular season. If to look on their biggest wins they appear to come over Miami (FL), Penn State and Iowa. But they will have one more tight test coming up in which Ohio State will face the Arkansas Razorbacks - the team who had only two losses (to Auburn and Alabama).

In the Superdome on January 4, 2011 in New Orleans, Louisiana 2 strong offensive teams will meet, which means that Sugar Bowl 2011 should be a highly entertaining game. Want to get the cheapest tickets? Click here now and get a bowl discount!

Orange Bowl: Virginia Tech Hokies vs. Stanford Cardinal

If Wisconsin is considered to be the hottest team in the nation, the following two schools - Virginia Tech Hokies and Stanford Cardinals definitely fall next in line. Despite a disappointing start (0-2) Virginia Tech has won eleven straight games, at the time when the Hokies rank in the nation’s Top 20 in rushing offense, points scored and points allowed. Virginia Tech Hokies will take on Stanford Cardinal, which are the winners of 7 straight games and can boast their No. 8 scoring offense and No. 11 scoring defense in the nation.

But the majority is going with the Stanford Cardinal – the team which has given up just 44 points in their last five games, considering that two of those were shutout victories. It’s not a secret that no matter what happens and who will be the winner, the Orange Bowl should be one of the best matchups in all of the bowl season.
