The Tar Heels also hold the Division I Final Four record with eighteen trips (although tied with UCLA, one of UCLA’s eighteen Final Fours was later vacated), and this team won the most recent title of any team on the list of most NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships, having cut down the nets in 2009.

UCLA Bruins Men's Basketball

The UCLA Bruins men's basketball program was established in 1920. The team holds a record 11 Division I NCAA championships (a single elimination tournament and is held each spring, featuring 68 college basketball teams, both conference champions and at-large selections). The tournament was created in 1939 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and is organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The tournament is held mostly in March, which is why the season is called March Madness or the Big Dance. The national semi-finals (Elite Eight) and final (the Final Four) has become one of the nation's most famous sporting events.

UCLA teams' coach is John Wooden, who won 10 national titles in 12 seasons from 1964 to 1975, including 7 straight from 1967 to 1973. However, Coach Jim Harrick brought the program back into the spotlight in 1995, leading the team to another NCAA title. Now it is Coach Ben Howland who is also focused on returning Bruin Basketball to national projection, having lead UCLA to 3 successive Final Four appearances from 2006 to 2008.

The New Jersey Nets

The New Jersey Nets are a professional basketball team in the NBA that plays in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division. The team still plays in the Prudential Center in Newark but they are going to change their location to the Borough of Brooklyn in New York City when a new arena will be complete there in 2012.

The 2008-09 season was very busy for the New Jersey Nets. Jefferson's departure, together with that of Jason Kidd earlier that year, started the beginning of a new era in the Garden State. The Nets signed contracts with Brook Lopez, Ryan Anderson, and Chris Douglas-Roberts. The Nets filled out their young roster by signing veterans Eduardo Najera and Jarvis Hayes. The Nets completed that season with their 2nd straight 34-48 record.
