Tying with Division I Indiana University with 5 national titles is the University of North Carolina. The Tar Heels also hold the Division I Final Four record with eighteen trips (although tied with UCLA, one of UCLA’s eighteen Final Fours was later vacated), and this team won the most recent title of any team on the list of most NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships, having cut down the nets in 2009.
At the time when Justin Knox (who was named the SEC Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and named to the SEC All-Academic team) had 13 points to head North Carolina past Evansville 76-49 on 12/07/2010, Tyler Zeller scored eighteen points in his return to Indiana.
The game was recently commented on by basketball fans. If you follow their games you would have noticed that Bullock played more in that game. He is coming off knee surgery last year and Roy is bringing him along slowly. The Carolina team threw it into high gear versus Kentucky and will continue to improve. If Barnes hits his stride they could even go to the Final Four. Carolina beat Duke and Michigan State last year. Carolina is definitely as good as most of the best teams and early losses mean nothing in March.
During the last game which took place this Wednesday, North Carolina took control with an early 10-0 run, extended the lead to 46-27 at the half and never let Evansville get closer than 17 over the final 20 minutes.
