Fiesta Bowl 2011: Oklahoma Sooners vs. Uconn Huskies

The Oklahoma Sooners will compete in the Fiesta Bowl 2011 against the UConn Huskies which is the first meeting between UConn and Oklahoma. The game will take place on January 1. To buy the cheapest tickets now click here.

Four years ago Oklahoma was in this position, when a hook and ladder and a flea-flicker left the extreme favorites in unbelief as they watched the Boise State Broncos celebrate an incredible disappointing victory.

Fast forward to 2011 and the Big Twelve Champions, No. 7 Oklahoma Sooners (11-2), will face the Big East Champion UConn Huskies (8-4). The reason is that they lost 4 games and did not finish the year ranked in the BCS top-25, at the same time the Huskies did win the Big East and therefore get a shot.

Despite the fact that the Big 12 champion Sooners have lost 5 straight BCS bowl games, Oklahoma is predicted by majority to become a winner over UConn. The Sooners will rely on Landry Jones, DeMarco Murray and Ryan Broyles to put points on the board and pressure on an anemic Husky offense.
