World Wrestling Entertainment

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is the largest federation of its kind in the world and was founded by Vince Makmehon Sr. in January 24, 1963.

WWWF (World Wide Wrestling Federation)

January 24, 1963 in Toronto the match between Buddy Rogers and Lou Tess took place for the world title in the NWA heavyweight championship. The match took place according to the rule "before the first Fall," despite the fact that, at that time, the title matches went to at least two fouls. Tess became the winner, got the title, but one of the promoters of the offices of NWA (CWC), Raymond Mondt Makmehon and Vince Sr. did not accept Tess’s title of champion and, in order to protest, announced the CWC’s leaving the NWA, forming the WWWF.

WWF (World Wrestling Federation)

In March 1979, the Federation was renamed to WWF (World Wrestling Federation). Vince Makmaon bought up many NWA offices, forming a great wrestling-monopoly and, on March 31, 1985, the public display of the new format of the show is release as pay-per-view, namely WrestleMania.
