Cirque du Soleil


Cirque du Soleil (Circus of the Sun) is a brilliant representative of the modern genre of circus artistry. The company was founded in 1984 by Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier and is based in Montreal, Canada.

Cirque du Soleil has more than 4000 people working in different troupes, which allows the company to perform in several locations around the world simultaneously. Acts with spectacular performances are staged in the circus arena under a temporary tent. Annual earning of the circus are more than $600 million.

It’s a common view that Cirque du Soleil has breathed new life into circus arts. Along with superstars of pop music, it entertained the audience during the 74th Oscar Awards, the 50th anniversary ceremony of the Grammys and Super Bowl XLI. Its achievements were awarded with top prizes of the circus world and one of their shows was awarded an Emmy. In 2009 in Moscow, this circus preformed the grand finale of the Eurovision contest and in 2010, part of the presentation was shown at the festival of Red Sails in St. Petersburg.
